Portraits evoke powerful emotional connections

Recently, I came across a portrait I had taken of my grandmother shortly before she passed away. Instantly I was brought back to her Iowa farm where she always had frozen whoopie pies for us in the ice box. I could her raspy, loving grandma-voice and hear her laughing like she was with me there.

It brought tears to my eyes. I am so thankful I took that photo. I miss my grandma often, but in that moment when I looked at her picture, it was powerful. I felt reconnected to her in an instant.
