Cedar & Feather Boutonniere Tutorial
Step-by-step directions on how to craft nature-inspired boutonnieres for your groomsmen. A lovely and lasting way to add a personal touch to your wedding.
Lay a pre-made feather pick on top of cedar branch and trim the cedar branch to suit the size and shape you want. Cut a length of florist tape (about 4 inches) and tightly wrap the feather pick and cedar branch together (be careful not to twist the tape too hard or the cedar might fall apart).
Cut a 6-8 inch length of ribbon and affix one end of the ribbon to the back of the pick with hot glue. Wrap it neatly and tightly around the cedar and feather pick, until you are satisfied with the look. Trim the end and affix it to the back with another small dab of hot glue.
Pin to lapel with corsage pins.
Options and Variations
Make the groomsmen's boutonnieres different from the groom using another color of ribbon, varying types of feathers, or adding other types of greenery.
Make your own feather picks by trimming loose feathers to you desired length and wrapping the ends together with florist tape.
Add fresh flowers, berries and greens to your boutonnieres.
